Past Recipients:

MICHIGAN COUNCIL FOR ART & CULTURAL AFFAIRS (MCACA) Minigrants – a partnership funded by the State of Michigan through the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs (MCACA) and administered by agencies in each region of the state. Minigrants provide up to $4,000 for locally developed, high quality arts and cultural projects. These projects address local arts and cultural needs and increase public access to arts and cultures and are given to non-profit service organizations, arts organizations, parks and recreational organizations, churches, professional associates, public and non-public schools, cities, townships, counties and villages. In 2008-2009, a total of $22,800 was granted to organizations in Branch, Calhoun, Hillsdale, Jackson and Lenawee Counties through the following grantees:

Jackson Storyfest

Purpose: Support for the 22nd Annual Jackson Storyfest – a community storytelling workshop and festival

Lenawee Intermediate School District

Purpose: Funds for the 2009 Lenawee County Youth Fine Arts Festival – bringing together high school students from throughout Lenawee County to study and celebrate the arts through interactive activities in dance, drama, instrumental music, vocal music, video/audio production and visual arts

Lenawee Symphony Orchestra Society

Purpose: Support for the Young People’s Concert presentation entitled Pinocchio presented to students from second through sixth grades

Young Michigan Dances

Purpose: Support for Ballet Folklorico “Quetzalli” de Veracruz for Branch County high school and middle school students

Croswell Opera House and Fine Arts Association

Purpose: Support for live musicians for the performance of High School Musical 2

Purpose: Funds to support the downtown Adrian Art-A-Licious Festival with diverse visual, performing, literary, musical, cultural and historical artists from Lenawee County

Purpose: Grant to support the pops concert Salute to the Andrews Sisters

Jackson School of the Arts

Purpose: Funds for Arts for All performance by the Blue Lake International Youth Symphony Orchestra at Jackson Community College

Purpose: Support for A Walk Through Time a one-day event covering 250 years of Michigan history through historical reenactments, artists and performers

Tibbits Opera Foundation & Arts Council

Purpose: Support for Tibbits Summer Theatre productions from June through August
