ABOUT THE EVENT
Albion Community Theatre (ACT) invites you to enjoy a special spring dinner theatre performance of Love Letters at Cascarelli’s of Albion, Friday, March 19 8:00 p.m.
The play stars ACT veterans Barbara Cliff-Miller and John King.
A special menu of Baked Chicken with rice or Baked whitefish is offered for only $10, not including tax and gratuities.
Show tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, or $6 for students, and should be reserved by calling 517-629-5630. There is a $1 discount on the show tickets for patrons that also purchase dinner. ($9 for adults, $7 for seniors and $5 for students.) Dinner is served at 7 p.m.
Love Letters , a Pulitzer Prize for Drama nominated play, was written by A.R. Gurney and originally opened off-Broadway in March 1989, where it ran 64 performances. The play was performed only on Sunday and Monday evenings and changed its cast weekly.
The play centers on just two characters, Melissa Gardner and Andrew Makepeace Ladd III. Using the epistolary form sometimes found in novels, they sit side by side at tables and read the notes, letters and cards - in which over nearly 50 years, they discuss their hopes and ambitions, dreams and disappointments, victories and defeats - that have passed between them throughout their separated lives.
Starring in Love letters performance are the following Members of Albion Community Theatre:
John King (Director & President of ACT) When you’ve been involved in over a hundred shows, it’s really hard to pick your favorites. As an actor, John’s favorite one of John’s favorite roles is Tevye (Fiddler on the Roof) who sings the famous song “Tradition.” John is the primary A.C.T leader for directing plays, the future of ACT and the “ACT in the Spotlight” marketing program.
Barb Cliffe-Miller
Barb has been with ACT for a long time and has done everything from starring roles to bit parts. In addition to being Director of Sports Rehabilitation at Oaklawn Hospital, Barb recently completed her doctorate in physical therapy from Boston University. Barb lives in Albion with her husband, Eric Miller the Chief of Police in Albion.
Albion Community Theatre is working with The Greater Albion Chamber of Commerce, Albion Downtown Development Authority, and several downtown Albion businesses to promote the “Albion Entertainment District.”
This area includes Cascarelli’s, Java N Jazz and Davans.
Learn more about “Albion Entertainment District” including a map, links and events at the ACT web site: www.AlbionTheatre.org.
The marketing of Albion Community Theatre is being done by Maggie LaNoue, Albion Design and Marketing, thanks to a grant by The Arts and Industry Council (AIC), Michigan’s oldest incorporated non-profit arts council. AIC also funded the Albion Community Mural, which is in the Citizens Bank drive-thru.
